1- why i started a new research and the result is not the
same?from the first research i did a little while ago?
i mean, i did not use the mac from the first research, i
did not delete anything and i did not add anything...
2- i tried to select the type of files i am looking for but
the software ignored my command and keep looking for any
kind of file
3- is it normal that the 70% of the files i found the first
time are damaged?

What kind of files are you looking for? How were the files lost? Are
these files lost from the main system drive or another drive on the
system? What scan options are you choosing?

i am looking for cr2 files, they were trashed by mistake to the trash folder and then deleted again by my assistant.
They were in the main system and i used first "deleted files" and after that the others options.
The first time, it found a lot of cr2, i saved the ones i wanted but when i tried to opened them, 70% were not
complete...instead of around 11mb each, they were 4 mb and my mac couldn't open them.
So i tried to do the same operation but this time i can't get the same files but just a
few...instead of hundreds, as it was the first time, now i see only 23 :(
what can i do?

If they were deleted files, you should use only the deleted file scan. Then also do not use any of the search,
only let the deleted file scan run. Once you have that, then you save the CR2 folder off to another drive.
If you are saving back onto the same drive, then you are overwriting the deleted file space and that may be
why you are not seeing as many each time. Another reason is that the main system drive is an active drive
and using the system can cause the deleted data to be compromised as well. SO even if you are not saving
anything back to the drive, a reboot, web browsing, opening files, email, etc can cause the system to use drive space.
It is best to run the software and choose the deleted file scan and save the data to another drive and minimize the
amount of use on the system.

well, i did not save in the same drive and i did not use internet that much but i did the deleted file scan some times
and it always find not much cr2 files, very old ones ( and i don't understand why not the newest) and most of them in
a partial way as i can't open them.
I checked the other files type ( psd, tiff, mpeg and so on) just to see if i was just unlucky and if i could get other
files if i wanted but i couldn't..again, most of them are just useless avatar or files that i can't open ( i am talking
about the 85% of the scan). i am very disappointed, this software just doesn't work!
At the end i payed $ for nothing and i won't be able to save at least one of the files i needed.
i will not be able to speak well about this software to the various forum i am in.
i don't think there is anything else i could do to try to recover the files but if you have any advice please let me know.
Thanks

If the data was fragmented or damaged by partial overwrite, then the files will not be easily recovered,
and sometimes not at all. If the disk was very full then this also limits the ability to recover deleted
data C especially if any data was written back to the drive after the delete. Anything that is run on the
system after the delete can affect the recovery. In the case of finding old pictures, that can happen if
the data space on the physical drive where the files were sitting did not have anything written to the drive.
It sounds like your files were deleted, but other activity went on with the system before the recovery attempt.
This can certainly cause the problems you are experiencing. It is recommended that you save as much as possible
and then see if the files might be able to be salvaged in ACDsee or FastStone Image viewer (in Windows). If you
would like me to have a look at some of the recovered files, you can send me a sample of them via YouSendIt.com
where they can be zipped an sent up to 100MB in size.
Thank you
