How to work with Mac OS which can't bootable?

I can't boot my MacOS 10.4 laptop anymore. When I boot from the
MacOS installation DVD the harddisk isn't visibel. Is there anyway your
software can be run on my harddisk?

The only thing I can recommend is to put the affected hard drive in an external enclosure
and attach it to a good running Mac (with enough extra disk space to save the data) and then
run FRMAC that way. Try the lost files scan.
