426 recovered .PSP or .PSD files will not open in PhotoShop.

Customer Question: # 1

I just ran your program. 426 files were found with .psp at the end instead of .psd. I tried 8 and none of them will open in Photoshop. I tried changing the last letter in the name to d and that didn't work. The loss was this morning and I haven't written over anything on my hard drive. Any suggestions?

Support Answer: # 2

Are these deleted files lost files, etc? What scan was run?

If they were deleted files, you should use only the deleted file scan. Then also do not use any of the search, only let the deleted file scan run. Once you have that, then you save the files to another drive. If you are saving back onto the same drive, then you are overwriting the deleted file space and that may be why you are not seeing as many each time. Another reason is that the main system drive is an active drive and using the system can cause the deleted data to be compromised as well. SO even if you are not saving anything back to the drive, a reboot, web browsing, opening files, email, etc can cause the system to use drive space.
