How long time will the mac file recovery scan usually take?

Customer Question: # 1

I have a few questions and don't know if you are the right person to ask. I have started a scan and it's already been going for an hour. How long do they usually take?

And once I have done the scan, how do I view the documents. When I tried it during the demo it was having me save the documents, but didn't want them saved to my computer? Are you able to help me with these questions?

I appreciate any help you can provide. I was working on a 100 page document and lost the work from last week, about 20 pages. I would be so grateful to be able to retrieve it. It would save me hours and hours of time and frustration.

If you are not the person I should be getting help from, is there someone that can help me today? I called the toll-free number and the message said that they are closed on weekends. If I am not able to retrieve the work I did, I need to recreate it all today. Thank you.

Support Answer: # 2

The scan can take many hours depending on the size of the drive. It is best not to do any work on the computer during the scanning as this will cause the scan to be slower.

When you find your data, you will need to save it to another location (not the same disk it is being scanned from) and then try opening the files. There is no preview for documents - only pictures.
