How to recover the files and folders from my accidentally reformatted external La Cie drive?

I accidentally reformatted my external La Cie drive and am trying to
recover the files and folders that are on it.
I was reformatting a camera disk using disk utility on my Mac Pro
(Snow Leopard)
What software would you recommend and is it possible to recover or
reformat to recover the files

How large is the LaCie drive? If it is a large hard drive, then
PHOTO RECOVERY will not be what they need. If the LaCie drive is
formatted FAT, then the recovery will need to be on a PC, if it is
formatted HFS, then FILER ECOVERY for Mac will be used, and they can do a
Lost File Scan.
Try it with the demo first and see what they find. If the drive is a
large drive, their system will need a lot of resources.
